They have collaborated with some of the leading insurance companies.

Insurance.com offers quotes for auto, home, life and health coverage. However, their site does not provide a list of the available sub-categories of insurance under these types of policies. Insurance.com is an insurance agency and they state that they give quotes on all the major types of insurance, it is likely safe to assume that they have access to many different types of policies, including some of the less common types of coverage.

Insurance.com has a brief demo that will coach you through the process of acquiring a free quote.

The actual quote process involves selecting the type of insurance that you need and entering your zip code, after this you are directed to a quote request form. Once you complete the form, Insurance.com matches your information to companies with services that most closely meet your insurance needs. Those selected insurance companies process your request and contact you via email, fax or phone with a quote.

Some sensitive information such as social security numbers etc. is optional - but can be useful and can help expedite and insure the accuracy of the process and quote. Insurance.com offers an easy to find 'Contact Us' page where you will find a telephone number and an email address. There is also a FAQ's page and pages that offer useful information for the consumer regarding insurance.

We tried to contact them by email, but after several weeks did not receive a response, a timely email response is mandatory for good customer service, because of this they scored low in customer support.

Summary:  

Insurance.com is an insurance agency that can get you a competitive quote directly from several of the largest insurance companies in the country. The quote request form requires a little more time to fill out than some of the others we encountered, but the extra information creates a more accurate quote. Unfortunately, if you have questions, the customer service proved impossible to reach by email, and this really takes away from the overall score of this service.
